What is Holistic Nutrition Therapy?

A holistic nutrition therapy approach looks at all of the body systems (immune, digestive, skin, nervous, endocrine, etc), as well as our emotions & thoughts as connected parts of a whole.  We focus on optimizing each body system to work together for overall, vibrant health. Rather than looking at the digestive, immune and nervous systems as separate entities, we look at their combined, synergistic effects. If you are digesting your food properly, you’ll absorb more nutrients so you can stay strong and healthy, and make calming neurotransmitters in your gut (aka the “second brain”) that profoundly affect your mood, thoughts and decisions about ongoing food choices!  Every choice we make has a cascading, ripple effect.  Its ALL CONNECTED!

I believe eating whole, nutrient dense foods is foundational to your health, though there are often underlying reasons why you don’t feel well.  I use functional lab testing to find out what’s happening inside your body, investigate the root causes of your health concerns, and create a personalized plan to help you achieve your goals.

Did you know the average doctors visit in the US is only 7-15 minutes?  Doctors are trained to diagnose and treat disease, but unfortunately most doctors don’t have the time or training to help patients change their diet or behavior.  They can tell their patients to exercise, lower their cholesterol, loose weight, eat more vegetables, but more often than not, that is where the advice ends, and their patients are left feeling overwhelmed or defeated, with no plan to successfully improve their health.  Nutrition therapy & functional lab testing looks to find the underlying or ROOT cause of symptoms, instead of just covering them up with medications.
